BY DON MUEANG AIRPORT TRAIN & M.R.T. UNDERGROUND / SUBWAY & B.T.S. SKY TRAIN - roughly 06:00 hrs - 24:00 hrs.
Don Mueang is pronounced Don Muang. The 'e' is silent.
S.R.T. are initials of the State Railway of Thailand which operates the Don Mueang Airport Red Line shuttle train system.
M.R.T. are the initials of Metropolitan Rapid Transit, mainly an underground system.
B.T.S. are the initials of Bangkok Mass Transit System, an over-ground or elevated train system also known as Sky Train.
A cheaper alternative from Don Mueang Airport, but one which involves much walking in the airport and at stations, and more changes of trains, would be to take the Don Mueang Airport Train (also called S.R.T. Red Line) to Bang Sue [SIC] Station, then change to M.R.T. Blue Line, alight at Chatuchak, then change to B.T.S. Sukhumvit (green) Line, alight at Phloen Chit Station. Phloen Chit is pronounced Ploen Chit, not Floen Chit. The name means 'delight of the spirit.' The total fare is less than Bahts 150. Below are more re-assuring details for you if this is your first time.
Phloen Chit Station is in city centre Bangkok so it is in the middle of all maps. Take exit 4 from Phloen Chit Station and you will be on the correct side (the south side) of the road. Exit 4 will take you down the stairs to the street level. From the bottom of the stairs, walk straight ahead for 150 meters. You will walk under an expressway, then immediately cross a railway line, then pass the Krungthai Bank (a tall building with huge blue signs), then you will arrive at an office building called Ploenchit Center with its McDonald's and Starbucks, which is at the corner of Soi 2 (lane number 2). Turn right into Soi 2 and walk a further 600 metres to the end of Soi 2. The Atlanta is on your right. As you approach The Atlanta, you will notice a church before you see The Atlanta. The church is at the very end of the lane, next to The Atlanta. Soi 2 is quite busy and is safe to walk at all hours. Do consider the weather and the amount of luggage you have if you chose this alternative!
